Giran is the winged monster of the World Martial Arts Tournament. A huge wild Giran roams the lands of Earth where the dinosaurs live, and the tournament fighter is one of the contenders of the World Martial Arts Tournament.

Spawning
The wild Giran spawns in the same biomes as the dinosaurs: badlands, mountains, hills, the DMZ Rocky biome and biomes with savanna villages (spawn weight 6, always alone). It is a wild enemy: it spawns on the surface under open sky, day or night, away from torches and other light, and never in Peaceful (see how wild enemies spawn). It is rare: only 20% of its natural spawn attempts succeed, and it never spawns within 64 blocks of another Giran. In Creative, the Giran Spawn Egg spawns a wild Giran.

Behavior
The wild Giran is bigger than the tournament fighter: 1.56 times the normal size, with a hitbox 1.2 blocks wide and 2.9 blocks tall. It can't fly, attacks on sight and fights on the Novice AI tier (see enemy AI tiers). It shrugs off 60% of the knockback it takes.

Drops
* 0–1 Raw Dino Tail (cooks if on fire, +0–1 Looting)
* 1–3 Raw Dino Meat (cooks if on fire, +0–1 Looting)

In the tournament
World Martial Arts Tournament
The tournament Giran, a separate and smaller fighter, is one of the contenders who can be drawn for the qualifier rounds of the World Martial Arts Tournament. Each run draws its contenders at random, so he isn't in every bracket. His stats come from the seat he is drawn into: by default a contender has between 147,000 and 392,000 health, 6,100 to 16,300 melee damage and 5,500 to 14,700 ki damage, fights on the Smart or Elite AI tier, and gets 8% stronger for every round already played. The tournament is non-lethal. See Tournaments for how bouts work.

In the story
In the Classic Saga quest Tournament: Giran, he is your first opponent at the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament.
