Weights
Weights are wearable training gear. Wearing them while you train multiplies the Training Points (TP) you earn, but overloading yourself makes you weaker. Getting the balance right is the whole point.
Weights work hand in hand with gravity: training under higher gravity makes the same weight count for much more (see Gravity). All numbers on this page are server defaults.
Weight items
Weights are worn in the dedicated Weights Curios slot (one slot, with a cosmetic slot next to it). There are three, and each holds its own weight value in kg, shown in the tooltip:
| Item | Given by |
|---|---|
| Turtle Shell | Master Roshi |
| Workout Weights | King Kai |
| Weighted Cape | Piccolo |
Ask one of these masters for their weight service and type how many kg you want: you receive a new weight item with that value. Requests are capped at 100,000 kg. You can ask once per conversation; talk to the master again for more (see Masters).
Admins can also hand them out with /dmzweight <type> <amount> (see Commands). A weight item is also an ingredient of the Gravity Device.
How training with weights works
The bonus isn't just "more weight, more TP". The game compares how much weight you carry with how much your character should be able to handle:
- Effective weight is your total worn weight multiplied by the gravity load factor. Under higher gravity the same weight counts for much more.
- Ideal weight scales with your power level (roughly your relative level divided by 2).
- Load ratio is effective weight divided by ideal weight. This ratio decides your TP multiplier and your training zone.
You can check all of this in the Gravity row of the Stats menu (V): your weight (raw and effective), your ideal weight, the zone you're in and the current Weight Training multiplier.
Training zones
| Load ratio | Zone shown in game | TP multiplier | Stat penalty |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 (no weights) | None | ×1.0 | none |
| up to 0.5 | Comfortable | ×1.0 to ×1.5 | none |
| 0.5 to 0.75 | Comfortable | ×1.5 to ×2.0 | none |
| 0.75 to 1.25 | Ideal | ×2.0 | none |
| 1.25 to 2.0 | Pushing Hard | ×2.0 to ×2.5 | rising |
| 2.0 to 2.5 | Pushing Hard | ×2.5 to ×1.0 | rising to the maximum |
| 2.5 and above | Overloaded | ×1.0 | −60% stats |
What this means:
- The Ideal zone (ratio 0.75 to 1.25) gives a safe ×2.0 TP with no penalty. It is the recommended place to sit.
- Pushing Hard can reach up to ×2.5 TP, but you start taking a stat penalty (up to −60% of your stats). The same penalty also slows your movement and attack speed, so you fight much weaker while overloaded.
- Going too heavy (ratio 2.5 or more, Overloaded) is the worst of both: the TP bonus collapses back to ×1.0 and you keep the full penalty.
- Heavier zones also raise your stamina cost per attack and the drain of active forms: ×1.15 Comfortable, ×1.3 Ideal, ×1.5 Pushing Hard, ×2.0 Overloaded.
Because your ideal weight grows with your level, weights that once overloaded you become ideal as you get stronger, so you keep asking for heavier weights over time.
Gravity synergy
Training under gravity stacks with weights:
- Gravity amplifies effective weight, so you can reach the Ideal and Pushing Hard zones with less physical weight.
- Gravity also grants a flat TP bonus (+2.5% per point of net gravity) and a small mastery bonus (+0.25% per point of net gravity). Both stop once net gravity reaches 75.
- In the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, the chamber's 10× gravity still amplifies your weights, but it doesn't add the flat gravity TP bonus: the chamber has its own TP multiplier instead.
- Bulma's Gravity Room Mk.II and Mk.III sidequests reduce the weight stat penalty while you train inside an active Gravity Device (see Gravity Device).
The strongest training setup is weights and a Gravity Device, kept in (or just above) the Ideal zone. See Training Points and Mastery for everything else that grants TP.
