Tournaments
Tournaments are one-on-one ring fights against a ladder of NPC fighters, hosted by an NPC at a fixed arena. Enter alone or with your party, accept the rules, then fight your way up to the host's champion. Win the whole tournament for big TP rewards.
The tournaments
| Tournament | Host and arena | Format | Ring | Difficulty | Rewards (winner) | Re-entry cooldown |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fortuneteller Baba's Tournament | Fortuneteller Baba, at Baba's Palace (Overworld oceans) | Gauntlet | Knockout | ★ | 10,000 TP, +5 alignment | 20 minutes |
| Cell Games | Cell, at the Cell Arena (Overworld plains) | Bracket | Lethal | ★★★★ | 1,000,000 TP, +10 alignment | 60 minutes |
| Otherworld Tournament | The Otherworld Tournament Announcer, at the tournament grounds in the Otherworld | Bracket | Knockout | ★★★★★ | 3,000,000 TP, +10 alignment | 90 minutes |
- Cell only talks to players with Evil alignment (40 or less), as he does as a master.
- To reach the Otherworld Tournament, talk to the Grand Kai next to King Yemma and press Tournament. The Announcer can send you back.
- Qualifier fighters get 8% stronger each round (Baba's fighters 10%).
Formats
- Bracket: you're seated in a knockout bracket filled with random NPC contenders. Winners climb the ladder; fights between two NPCs are decided automatically. After the qualifier rounds, the survivor faces the host's semi-finalist, then (Otherworld only) a finalist, then the champion. Only the semi-finalist, finalist and champion are known before you enter; the rest of the draw is revealed once everybody accepts the rules.
- Gauntlet: you beat every fighter from left to right, then the semi-finalist and the champion.
Lethal tournaments can kill you: a lost bout is a real death. Knockout tournaments end each bout at knockout and nobody dies.
Entering
- Talk to the host and press Tournament to open the tournament screen, then Enter. You must be within 12 blocks of the host.
- If you're in a party, only the party leader can enter, and the whole party enters together. Nobody can join or be invited to the party until the tournament is over, and a member who leaves the party is disqualified.
- Every member gets the rules screen and has 60 seconds to Accept or Decline (Decline asks for confirmation). Whoever declines, doesn't answer or logs out drops out; in a bracket, their seat goes to a random fighter. If nobody accepts, the tournament is called off.
- Only one run of each tournament can happen at a time. You can't enter while you're on cooldown or still entered in another tournament.
Bouts
- When your bout is next, the tournament screen opens and you have 30 seconds to press Ready. Hover your opponent to study their stats and, once you have Bulma's Threat Database scan data, their ki attacks and combos. Miss the window and you're disqualified (your opponent advances).
- When everyone in the bout is ready, a 5-second preview plays, then you're teleported into the ring. Fighters stand frozen through a 3-2-1 countdown, then FIGHT!
- Only your opponent can hurt you and only you can hurt them. Anyone else who comes within 15 blocks of the fighters is pushed out.
- Each bout has a time limit (Baba 5 minutes, Cell 7 minutes, Otherworld 8 minutes). A bout that runs out of time is void and fought again.
- Stay within 60 blocks of the ring. If you walk away (or log out), you have 15 seconds to come back, or you're out. Party members called into the tournament from elsewhere get 60 seconds to reach the arena.
- Losing a bout knocks you out of the tournament and starts your re-entry cooldown.
Parties
- Bracket: each member has their own seat. If the draw puts two members against each other, they fight a PvP bout.
- Gauntlet: the party shares one ladder and takes the ring in turns. If the current fighter loses, another member steps in against the same opponent. When the champion falls, every member who accepted the rules gets the rewards.
Winning
The winner gets the TP and alignment rewards, fireworks and the victory music, and the cooldown starts again (by default the same length as the re-entry cooldown).
The tournament screen
The screen shows the tournament name and difficulty stars, its format (Bracket or Gauntlet) and whether it's Lethal or Knockout, a status line, and your party members with their state (★ leader, ✓ accepted or ready, … pending, ✗ out, ⚔ fighting).
- Rules view: the numbered rules of this tournament, with Accept and Decline.
- Bracket view: brackets are drawn as a vertical tree, where winners climb towards the champion's seat at the top; gauntlets are drawn left to right. Hover any fighter for details. Large brackets scroll.
- During the accept window and the preview, a card in the quest notice area of your HUD and big on-screen titles count down to the fight.
Arena protection
The tournament arenas (Baba's Palace, the Cell Arena and the Otherworld Tournament grounds) can't be built in or broken by survival players unless the gamerule allowBuildingInArenaStructures is true. See Gamerules.
Commands
All /dmztournament subcommands require operator permission level 2.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/dmztournament cooldown clear <players> [tournament] |
Clears the players' cooldown for one tournament, or for all of them. |
/dmztournament ring <tournament> |
Stand where you want the ring centre (inside the arena structure) and run this: the position is saved into that tournament's ring offset.

Configuration
Each tournament is one file in config/dragonminez/tournaments/ named after its id (baba.json, cell.json, otherworld.json), generated with the defaults and version-updated like the other config files. Any other .json file in the folder is loaded too (files starting with old_ are ignored), but only the three shipped ids have a host NPC. Reload with /dmzreload config.

Each fighter has entityId (an entity id, or #tag to draw a random member of an entity tag; the fighter is shown with that entity's own name), health, meleeDamage, kiDamage, aiTier (1 Novice to 4 Expert), perRoundScaling (stats are multiplied by this value once per round already played) and halo (draws a halo on the fighter).
A fighter drawn from a tag is always a character who isn't in the tournament yet: the semi-finalist, the finalist and the champion are resolved first, then the contenders with a fixed entity id, then the tag draws in list order, and the forms of a character (base, Super Saiyan and so on) count as one. A contender entry whose tag has no character left is skipped.
