Ki flight with two modes, Search Fly and Combat Fly. Each level increases your speed.

Fly is the skill that lets you fly with your ki. It has two flight modes: Search Fly, a fast, free-steering 360° flight for travelling, and Combat Fly, a momentum-based hover tuned for fighting. Each level of the skill makes you faster.

Learning it

Goku (Good alignment) and Frieza (Evil alignment) teach Fly. To actually take off you also need Ki Control and at least 5% Power Release.

Taking off

Jump and press F in mid-air to start flying, and press it again to stop. You can also toggle Fly from the Utility Menu (X) under Movement.

Flight modes

Mode Best for How it feels
Search Fly Travelling Fast, free-steering 360° flight.
Combat Fly Fighting A momentum-based hover tuned for combat.

Switch between them with Alt + F, or in the Utility Menu under Movement → Fly.

By default, taking or dealing damage while in Search Fly switches you to Combat Fly for 8 seconds.

Since version 2.2, Search Fly is 18% slower and Combat Fly 15% slower than before; the rush of a strike attack keeps its speed. The aura you show while sprinting in flight no longer lights up its surroundings.

Flight options

Hovering Fly in the Utility Menu (X → Movement → Fly) opens its options:

  • Search Fly / Combat Fly switches the mode (same as Alt + F).
  • Flight Speed caps your flight speed between 5% and 100% in 5% steps. The cap also slows rising and descending. Click it again to go back to 100%, or hover it and use the mouse wheel.
  • Mode Lock remembers the mode you chose. When taking or dealing damage forces you from Search Fly into Combat Fly, you are switched back to your chosen mode as soon as the Combat Fly lock ends.

Flying in combat

  • Strike attacks reach targets up to 12 blocks away while you fly, instead of 6.
  • During a Ki Surge you fly faster (see Combat).
  • By default Combat Fly drains Ki at half the normal rate.
Configured in: Combat ConfigcombatFly*

Notes

  • If you can't fly yet, Korin gives you a Flying Nimbus (or a Black Nimbus if your alignment is 50 or lower).
  • Fly switches off when you get on a vehicle, and you can't switch it on while you ride.
  • All flight keys can be rebound in Minecraft's controls (see Controls).
