DragonMineZ has two in-game menus: the Character Menu, a tabbed window for your stats, party, skills, quests, minigames and settings, and the Utility Menu, a radial wheel for transforming and using skills in the middle of a fight. Talking to a master or a quest NPC opens the NPC dialogue. This page explains each of them.

Opening the menus

Key Opens
V The Character Menu (Stats, Party, Skills, Quests, Minigames and Config). Before you have created a character it opens character creation.
X (hold) The Utility Menu (transformations, stack forms, movement and actions).
Unbound Open Party / Skills / Quests / Minigames / Config Tab: optional shortcuts straight to one tab. They also switch tabs while the menu is open.

All keys can be changed in Minecraft's controls options: see Controls.

Tutorials The first time you open the race selection, the character customization, the Stats, Skills and Quests menus (and your first look at the HUD after creating a character), a short interactive tutorial highlights each part of the screen. Press Enter or Space for the next step, or Esc to skip. You can turn them off, or see them all again, from Config → Interface. Almost every screen has a tutorial.

Character Menu

A tabbed window opened with V. Each tab is a button along the menu. Use the +/- size buttons (or the Menu Panel Scale option in Config) to make the menu bigger or smaller; the panels keep their pixel-art frame at any size.

Stats

Your main character page:

  • Your name, level, Battle Power, alignment and class.
  • The six attribute buttons (STR, SKP, RES, VIT, PWR and ENE): click one to spend Training Points and raise that stat (see Stats and Attributes). The TPC box shows the TP cost of the next point; if you have pending Attribute Points (for example after a respec) they are spent first, at no TP cost.
  • The Statistics list: damage, defense, health, ki, stamina, speed, form multipliers and drains, and more, with the real costs charged by the server (stat costs, stamina regeneration and per-hit cost, form drains). Hover a row for details; hold Shift for advanced descriptions.
  • TP Multiplier: hover it to see where each bonus comes from (class, gravity, weights, effects, Hyperbolic Time Chamber…). See Training Points and Mastery.
  • Gravity: your current gravity, stat penalty, weights and training zone (see Weights and Gravity).
  • The stats can be shown as a list or as a hexagon chart (Hexagon Stats Display in Config).

Party

Create and manage your party: invite online players, accept or reject invitations, kick members, leave or disband, and toggle party PvP. Party members can play quests together (see Sagas), see each other on the party HUD and get markers over each other's heads.

Once you are in a party, the Invite Players button lists the online players who aren't in it yet; going back from that list keeps your party and the invitations you already sent. Only the leader sends invitations: when another member picks a player, the leader gets a suggestion to invite them instead. When an invitation can't be sent, the chat tells you why (the level gap is too large, the party is full, the player is offline or plays on a higher difficulty).

The player who creates the party leads it. If they log off, the lead passes to another online member until they come back, and the chat tells everyone who leads. The leader can kick members, even offline ones, but never the creator. Only the creator can disband the party: their own button reads Disband instead of Leave, and leaving as the creator disbands it.

Join Party lists your invitations with who sent them, the party's story difficulty and the time left (an invitation expires after 60 seconds). You can accept an invitation while you are in another party: you leave your old party when you join the new one (if you created it and it has other members, it is disbanded). You can only join a party that plays on your difficulty or higher, and joining a party on a higher difficulty raises yours permanently, so the Accept button turns into Confirm & Join and needs a second click. Nobody can join or be invited to a party while its tournament is underway. See also /dmzparty on Commands.

Skills

Learn and level your skills, techniques and transformations by spending Training Points. The tabs are Skills, Ki Attacks, Strike Attacks, Evasion Attacks and Forms. Racial skills are listed here too, one entry per racial ability. Double-click an entry to buy it. Buying a skill or technique requires being near a master who offers it, and locked forms show what they are waiting for (for example "Locked until: Frieza Saga - Quest 13").

Techniques can be bound to a technique slot (Bind to Slot); a race-locked technique shows Not usable by your race instead, and the masters' shop lists the allowed races on a Race line. Create Skill opens the Technique Creator. Ki Infusion, Ki Protection and Ki Manipulation only work while switched on here. See Skills, Techniques and Transformations.

Quests

The Quest Tree: your story progress, objectives and rewards. The left panel lists every saga as a collapsible dropdown with its completed/total counter; quests with side branches expand the same way. Select a quest node to see its description, objectives and rewards, Start Quest, Track it on your HUD, and Claim Rewards once it is complete. Hovering an Attributes reward shows how it splits into Attribute Points and TP. Quest numbers, here, in quest lists and in the requirements of skills and forms, are each quest's position in its saga. See Sagas.

Story difficulty is chosen once The first time you open the Quests tab you pick Easy, Normal or Hard. Difficulty scales the health and damage of the enemies spawned by your quests (only for you and your party) and your training-point and quest-reward multipliers. The choice is permanent: the only way to change it later is the Change Difficulty wish (see Dragons and Wishes), although operators can also set it with /dmzquest difficulty. In a party, everyone plays on the party leader's difficulty.

Minigames

The training minigames (Rhythm, Ki Control, Shadow Boxing, Precision and Gravity) and the Shadow Dummy, all of which reward Training Points. A minigame has to be learned from its master first (three runs that reach level 5); after that you can play it from here at any time. See Training Minigames.

Config

Configured in: General User Config

Your personal DragonMineZ settings, grouped in collapsible categories with a search box on top. They are saved on your computer, not on the server.

Category Option What it does
Interface HUD Layout Opens the HUD Editor, where you also pick the HUD style.
Always Visible HUD Values Keeps the numbers on your HUD bars visible instead of fading them out.
Hide HUD Numbers Hides the numbers on your bars, side meters and party rows completely.
Party Markers Shows a marker over each party member's head.
Ki Sense - Accumulative Damage Sums up the damage a sensed target takes instead of showing single popups.
Advanced Description Shows the value of each HUD bar next to it.
Adv. Desc. (Percentage) Shows those values as a percentage instead of current / maximum.
Hexagon Stats Display Shows the Stats tab as a hexagon chart instead of a list.
Menu Panel Scale Size of the menu panels (0.5 to 2.5).
Utility Menu Scale Size of the Utility Menu (0.5 to 2.5).

Over Shoulder Camera Opens its own settings: mode (disabled, lock-on only or always), shoulder side, distance, height, sideways offset and smoothing.
Reserve First Hotbar Slot Items you pick up (or receive from rewards, /give and so on) never land in your first hotbar slot, so that slot stays empty unless you put something there yourself. The server keeps the setting, also after you die.
Stat Growth toggles One toggle per stat, only when the server has Dynamic Growth on.
Visuals My Aura - 3D Style Draws your aura in 3D instead of 2D. Other players also see your aura in the style you picked.
My Aura - 3D Type Smooth, Sparking or (Glind only) God.

Transformation Outlines Shows the outline effect while transforming.
Enable Impact Frames Enables the impact-frame screen flashes some hits and ki attacks trigger.
Use Animated First Person Model Uses the animated DragonMineZ model in first person.
Solar Flare - Invert Palette Inverts the colors of the Solar Flare blinding flash.
Audio Ki Sound Volume (%) Volume of the ki sounds (charging, ki blasts, beams and their explosions), from 0 to 100%.

Utility Menu

A radial wheel for the heat of battle. Hold X to open it, hover a slice and click; release X (or press Esc) to close it. Every entry has its own icon. The wheel has these slices:

Slice What it holds
Super Forms Your Super, Legendary and Android form groups.
Extra Forms Every other form group of your race (god forms and so on).
Stack Skills Stack forms such as Kaioken.
Movement Toggle the Fly, Jump and Sprint skills. Hovering Fly opens its flight options: Search Fly / Combat Fly, Flight Speed and Mode Lock.
Descend Power down one step: it drops your stack form first, then your form; in base form it sets your Power Release to 0%. Only shown when there is something to drop.
Actions Racial Skill (Zenkai, Assimilation, Absorption, Vital Drain…; for Saiyans also hide or show the tail), the Namekian Regeneration, Fusion, Limit Release, Ki Weapons and Ki Actions (Aura, Friendly Fist, Ki Protection and Ki Infusion).
  • Forms: click a form to select it as your next transformation (then charge it with G); double-click to transform instantly. See Transformations.
  • Limit Release: pick a maximum Power Release (5% steps, up to your max). Charging stops at that limit. Click it again while a limit is active to remove it. You can also hover it and use the mouse wheel to raise or lower the limit by 5%.
  • Search Fly / Combat Fly: switch your flight mode (same as Alt + F). See Combat.
  • Flight Speed: cap your flight speed between 5% and 100% (5% steps); the cap also slows rising and descending. Click it again to go back to 100%, or hover it and use the mouse wheel.
  • Mode Lock: remembers the flight mode you chose. When taking or dealing damage forces you from Search Fly into Combat Fly, you are switched back to your chosen mode as soon as the Combat Fly lock ends.
  • When a category has more than 5 entries, the last slot becomes More: it opens a list where you can drag entries to reorder them. Your order is saved on your computer.
  • Add-ons can add their own slices to the two free slots of the wheel.

NPC dialogue

Right-click a master or a quest NPC to talk to them (you need to have created your character first). The dialogue opens as a band across the bottom of the screen, with a live portrait of the NPC on the left, their line in the middle (typed out like a typewriter) and your options on the right. It gathers everything that NPC offers in one menu:

  • Quests, in story order: accept, turn in, see why a quest is still locked, and look back at the ones you completed. The window stays open while you accept or turn in quests.
  • Skills: the master's skill shop.
  • Train: the Shadow Clone (a Shadow Dummy copy of you to spar with) and the master's minigame.
  • The NPC's services (healing, Senzu Beans, weights, revive…).
  • Tournament, for the tournament hosts.

Options you can't use yet stay visible but locked: hover them to see why. Cooldowns show a live timer. Click an option, or use ↑ / ↓ and Enter, or the number keys 1–9. Space or Enter, or a click on the text, shows the whole line at once. Back (or Backspace, or a right-click) goes up one page; Close or Esc leaves.

What each NPC offers is listed on Masters.

Other screens

  • Wishes screen: left-click a wish to pick it, right-click to remove your last pick of that wish; slots are numbered, and revive wishes have an in-screen target picker. See Dragons and Wishes.
  • Tournament screen: the bracket, the rules and the Ready check of a tournament. See Tournaments.
  • Space Pod menu: press H while riding a Space Pod to pick a destination.
  • Technique Creator: opened with Create Skill in the Skills tab. See Techniques.
