general-user.json stores the personal, client-side settings of DragonMineZ: HUD behavior, menu scale, the flight camera, the over-the-shoulder camera, aura style, tutorials and other visual options. It never affects server balance, and it is the only config file in config/dragonminez that the server does not send to clients: every player keeps their own copy.

The file lives at config/dragonminez/general-user.json in the client's game folder. Almost every option can be changed in-game from the Configuration screen of the character menu (Interface, Gameplay, Visuals and Audio categories), which saves this file for you. Editing the file by hand is only needed for the few keys that have no button.

HUD layout The HUD layout (style, position and scale of every HUD element) is not stored here. It lives in config/dragonminez/hud_layout.json and is edited with the HUD editor; see HUD.

Gameplay

cameraMovementDuringFlight true Camera Movement while Flying Tilts (banks) the camera with the flight turns.
flightTurnSensitivity 0.75 Flight Turn Sensitivity Mouse turn sensitivity while flying, clamped to 0.2–2.0.
overShoulderMode 2 Over Shoulder Camera → Mode Over-the-shoulder third-person camera: 0 = Disabled, 1 = Lock-On Only, 2 = Always.

overShoulderUp 0.35 Over Shoulder Camera Camera height offset.
overShoulderSide 1.45 Over Shoulder Camera Camera sideways offset.

rhythmAudioOffsetMs 60 Rhythm minigame calibration Audio delay compensation for the Rhythm training minigame, in milliseconds. Set by the calibration screen of that minigame.
reserveFirstHotbarSlot false Reserve First Hotbar Slot Keeps hotbar slot 1 free: items you pick up, quest rewards and /give never go into it. The choice is sent to the server and saved with your player data.

When the server has Dynamic Growth enabled, the Gameplay category also shows one Stat Growth toggle per stat. Those toggles are stored in your player data on the server, not in this file.

Visuals

Key Default In-game option What it does
aura3DPersonal false My Aura - 3D Style Draws your aura with the 3D shader aura instead of the 2D sprite aura. Your choice is shared with the server, so other players also see your aura in the style you picked.
aura3DStyle "smooth" My Aura - 3D Type 3D aura type for your aura: smooth, sparking or god. god only works for the Glind race (other races show smooth, and the setting comes back if you play a Glind again). Any other value falls back to smooth.
aura3DEntities false Enemy Auras - 3D Style Draws the auras of NPCs and enemies with the 3D shader aura. (Other players use the style they picked themselves.)
transformationOutlines true Transformation Outlines Shows the outline effect while transforming.
impactFramesEnabled false Enable Impact Frames Enables the impact-frame screen flashes some hits and ki attacks trigger.
firstPersonAnimated true Use Animated First Person Model Uses the animated DMZ model in first person.
taiyokenInvertPalette false Solar Flare - Invert Palette Inverts the colors of the Solar Flare (Taiyoken) blinding flash.
hairPhysicsQuality "HIGH" None (file only) Hair physics quality: HIGH, LOW or OFF. LOW uses fewer simulation steps; far-away players always use reduced or no physics. Unknown values count as HIGH.

Audio

Key Default In-game option What it does
kiSoundVolume 100 Ki Sound Volume (%) Volume of DMZ's ki sounds (charging, ki blasts, beams and lasers), from 0 to 100%, on top of Minecraft's own volume sliders.

Removed and moved keys

Files from older versions are upgraded automatically on the first launch:

  • alternativeHud, hudStyle and hudLayout are moved into hud_layout.json (the HUD style becomes the layout's style).
  • xenoverseHudPosX, xenoverseHudPosY, xenoverseHudScale, healthBarPosX, healthBarPosY, energyBarPosX, energyBarPosY, staminaBarPosX, staminaBarPosY, techniqueHotbarRightSide and liveCrowdinTranslations are removed. HUD positions are now set in the HUD editor.

Reloading

This file is read by the client. Changes made from the Configuration screen apply immediately. If you edit the file by hand, restart the game to apply them (in singleplayer, /dmzreload config also re-reads it). A dedicated server never reads or sends your copy.
