The Metal Cooler Core is the world boss of Planet Namek: the heart of the Big Gete Star, fought inside its inner chamber. It never leaves its chamber, but floods it with lasers, binding cables, Metal Cooler guardians and a swarm of copies, and ends with a Supernova that only a power clash can stop.

The Big Gete Star

The Big Gete Star is a huge, half-buried mechanical sphere in the Ajissa Plains or the Sacred Land of Namek, at least 1,000 blocks from 0, 0; there is only one per world. Its hull is unbreakable, and the drained ground around it hides some Gete Debris. Every Namekian Trader sells a Big Gete Star Map for 16 Emeralds. See Structures.

Around the sphere, up to 2 patrols roam near players: each one is a Metal Cooler scout leading 2–3 Gete Robots.

In worlds created before the Big Gete Star was added, it is still placed where DMZ planned it when a player loads that area; it is too big to place at once, so it is filled in gradually. When an operator resets the boss, the sphere is restored too.

Waking the Core

Unlike the other world bosses, the Metal Cooler Core only wakes for players inside its chamber. When it wakes, everyone is warned to watch the red marks on the floor.

The fight

The fight has three phases, which start as the Core loses health.

Phase Starts at What happens
1 Full health Floor lasers strike the spots marked by red circles on the floor, in several waves. The Core also builds Metal Cooler guardians (up to 3 at a time) every so often.
2 70% health The Core starts draining energy. Cables burst from the floor under purple circles and bind the players caught there: press the sneak key to break free. The Core Overload bar appears.
3 35% health The Big Gete Star releases its army: a swarm of Metal Cooler copies (another swarm follows at 15% health). The Core now charges the Supernova and stops building guardians.

Overload

From phase 2 on, filling the Core Overload bar triggers an overload: the Core is exposed and takes 50% more damage for 12 seconds, and any players bound by its cables are released.

Supernova

In phase 3 the Core charges a Supernova. While it charges, the Core can't be damaged, and every Metal Cooler guardian and copy still standing heals it each second, so clear them out first.

When the Supernova comes down, fire beams at it to join the power clash and press on the marks to push it back. Win the clash and the Supernova is pushed back into the Core; it is the only way to stop it.

Rewards

Every contributor with at least 7.5% of the points rolls these default rewards (see how world boss rewards work):

  • ×105 Attributes (guaranteed; the amount scales with your contribution): half as Attribute Points and half as Training Points, like quest rewards (see Stats and Attributes).
  • 4 Gete Ingots (guaranteed).
  • The Supernova (Cooler) technique (20%): a giant ki ball (see Ki Attacks).
  • Each of the six Gete capsules (12% each): the rare Gete-tech versions of each capsule colour, which grant three times the points (see Capsules).

In the story

The Movies Saga has its own Big Gete Star chapter in the Ajissa Plains of Namek, after Frieza Saga quest 16: Big Gete Star (10 Gete Robots), Metal Cooler and Metal Cooler Core. On Hard difficulty the story Metal Cooler Core fights on the Expert AI tier.
