Afterimage is an evasion technique that leaves an image of you behind while you move at high speed. With a locked-on target it lets you blink around the enemy and reappear behind it; without one, it is a quick sidestep forward. Mobs that were targeting you lose track of you.
Learning it
Afterimage costs 2,500 TP. It is taught by Master Roshi and Krillin (both Good alignment) and by Cell (Evil alignment). Like every evasion technique, it needs Ki Control, an empty main hand and at least 5% Power Release, and it must be equipped in a technique slot.
How it works
Press the technique's slot key. What happens depends on whether you are locked on:
- With a locked-on target within 24 blocks, you blink around it a few times and end up behind it.
- Without a target, you leave an afterimage behind and step a few blocks forward.
Either way, mobs targeting you within 16 blocks lose track of you. Lock on with Z; your lock-on range depends on Ki Sense.
After using it, all your evasion techniques share a short lockout (the technique's duration + 3 seconds).
Upgrades
Afterimage gains experience every time you use it. Spend it in the Skills menu on duration (+2.5% per level, up to +50%) and cooldown.
Notes
- For a long-range version that teleports you behind a target up to 64 blocks away, see Dimensional Warp.
- Instant Transmission can also put you behind a target, using the dash cooldown instead of the evasion lockout.
