Skills are the abilities you learn from masters and level up with Training Points (TP). Some change how you move and sense the world, others quietly modify your combat. Your attacks are techniques, which are bought the same way but work differently, and every race also has its own racial skill.
Learning and levelling skills
skills.jsonMasters teach skills. Talk to a master and choose Skills in the dialogue to open their skill shop; each master only teaches a specific set (see the tables below and each master's page). Purchases are checked by the server: you must be within 10 blocks of a master who offers the skill, your race must be allowed to learn it, and a master who refuses you because of your alignment won't teach you. Techniques are the exception to the race rule: any race can learn them, but a race-locked technique can only be equipped by its races (see Techniques).
Once you own a skill, you can level it up anywhere from the Skills tab of the Character Menu (V), which has the tabs Skills, Ki Attacks, Strike Attacks, Evasion Attacks and Forms. Double-click an entry to buy its next level with TP. Racial skills are listed there too, one entry per racial ability.
Each level has its own TP cost. A few levels can't be bought at all and are granted another way: level 11 of Potential Unlock comes from Grand Elder Guru, and the Ultimate stack form from Old Kai's Ultimate Challenge.
Some skills only work while switched on. Fly, Jump and Sprint are toggled in the Utility Menu (X) under Movement; Ki Protection and Ki Infusion are toggled under Actions → Ki Actions, and the ki weapons of Ki Manipulation are formed from Actions → Ki Weapons.
Admins can set, add or remove skills with /dmzskill (see Commands).
Default TP costs
| Skill | TP cost of each level |
|---|---|
| Jump, Sprint, Meditation, Ki Sense | 300, 600, 900, 1,200, 1,500, 1,800, 2,100, 2,400, 2,700, 3,000 |

These are the defaults; server owners can change every cost, which races may learn a skill and which master teaches it.
Movement and utility skills
| Skill | Levels | Taught by | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ki Control | 1 | Almost every master | The foundation for channeling ki: required to fly and to charge and use ki, strike and evasion techniques. |
| Jump | 10 | Master Roshi, Frieza | Higher jumping (scales with level). |
| Sprint | 10 | Krillin, Frieza | +6% movement speed per level while it is switched on and your Power Release is at least 5%. |
| Fly | 10 | Goku, Frieza | Ki flight, toggled with F; levels increase your speed. Switch between Search Fly and Combat Fly with Alt + F. |
| Ki Sense | 10 | Gohan, Krillin, Frieza | Sense the ki of living beings around you (F4 cycles Combat mode, Search mode and off). Also sets your lock-on range for homing ki attacks. |
| Meditation | 10 | Master Roshi, Frieza, Fortuneteller Baba | +5% Ki and stamina regeneration per level, and a chance to passively dodge melee attacks. |
| Potential Unlock | 13 | King Kai, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza | +5% maximum Power Release per level (from 50% up to 100% at level 10, 115% at level 13) and faster releasing. |
| Instant Transmission | 10 | Goku, Cell | Tap H to teleport behind a target; from level 5, hold it to warp to masters, party members and other players. |
| Fusion | 5 | Goku | Learn the Fusion Dance (Metamoru) to merge with a player of your race; its level sets how long the fusion lasts. |
Passive combat abilities
These abilities quietly modify your combat. They are bought and levelled like any other skill.
| Ability | Levels | Taught by | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ki Boost | 4 | Gohan, Trunks, Cell | +25% Ki regeneration per level while you are actively charging Ki. It does not affect passive regeneration. |
| Ki Manipulation | 10 | King Kai, Cell | Form glowing ki weapons (Ki Blade, Ki Scythe, Ki Claw Lance) that deal your Ki Damage × the weapon's scaling × 10% per level, and raise basic ki-blast damage by 5% of your Ki Damage per level. Level 5 unlocks Shadow Dummy sparring. |
| Ki Infusion | 10 | Old Kai, Yamcha, Cell | Bonus melee damage equal to 2.5% of your max Ki per level (up to +25%), paid with 2.5%–7.5% of your max Ki per hit. |
| Ki Protection | 10 | Gohan, Trunks, Cell | Reduces incoming damage by 2.5% per level (up to 25%), at a Ki cost of 15% of the incoming damage. |
| Defense Penetration | 10 | Vegeta, Cell | Ignores 2.5% of the enemy's defense per level. Together with the enchantment of the same name and other sources it is capped at 50%. |
| Healing Reduction | 10 | Old Kai, Cell | Your hits reduce the target's healing (health regeneration and food healing) by 2% per level for 6 seconds. It stacks with the enchantment of the same name, capped at 40%. |
The Ki Infusion and Ki Protection percentages are the defaults of the combat configuration.
kiInfusion* / kiProtection*Racial skills
Every race has a racial skill made of several passives and, for most races, an active ability used from the Utility Menu (X, then G). Racial progress can be reset with a wish or with /dmzracial reset.
| Race | Racial skill highlights |
|---|---|
| Human | Blood-Fueled Ki (cheaper ki attacks paid partly with health), Fast Learner, Adrenaline. |
| Android | Android Core and the Absorption Barrier instead of Blood-Fueled Ki. |
| Saiyan | Zenkai (survive a lethal blow and come back stronger) and Limitless Power. |
| Namekian | Assimilation, Regeneration, Water Affinity. |
| Frost Demon | Prodigious Strength (+25% TP), Evolutionary Mastery, Hardened Body, Power Reserve. |
| Bio-Android | Bio-Evolution: Vital Drain, Self-Destruct or Summon Cell Jr. depending on your form. |
| Majin | Absorption, Sweet Tooth, Healing Magic. |
| Glind | All passive: Divine Ki (hidden from Ki Sense, Scouters and Instant Transmission), Celestial Body, Divine Punishment, Light and Darkness. |
Transformation and stack form skills
Transformations are unlocked through form skills (Super Forms, God Forms, Legendary Forms and Android Forms), bought in the Forms tab and priced per race. By default, upgraded Androids can't learn Super Forms or Legendary Forms.
The stack forms are skills too: Kaioken is taught by King Kai (5 levels), and Ultimate can't be bought: it is unlocked by clearing Old Kai's Ultimate Challenge.
Techniques
Ki attacks (Kamehameha, Galick Gun…), strike attacks (Dragon Fist, Meteor…) and evasion techniques (Solar Flare, Afterimage…) are techniques: they are bought from masters with TP like skills, but they are equipped in slots, gain their own experience and are upgraded separately. See Ki Attacks, Strike Attacks and Evasion Techniques for the full lists and who teaches each one.
