Kaioken is a stack form: it layers on top of your current transformation instead of replacing it, adding its own multiplier at the cost of your health. A Saiyan can be in base form or Super Saiyan and also be in Kaioken x2 at the same time. Every race can learn it from King Kai.

Learning Kaioken

King Kai teaches the Kaioken skill. Each level of the skill unlocks the next tier and is bought with Training Points:

Tier Skill level TP cost STR / SKP / PWR DEF Speed Health drain
x2 1 1,000 1.1 1.125 1.1 0.033
x3 2 1,500 1.2 1.25 1.2 0.072
x4 3 2,500 1.35 1.4375 1.35 0.128
x10 4 4,000 1.5 1.625 1.5 0.165
x20 5 7,500 1.65 1.8125 1.65 0.248

Multipliers are the defaults at 0% mastery and grow up to 1.5 times at 100% mastery. The health drain is the base upkeep per tick; the real cost scales with your Power Release, your offense and your health pool, and mastery discounts it (see energy consumption).

Using Kaioken

  • Pick a Kaioken tier in the Stack Skills slice of the X menu and charge it with G, like a normal form. Alt + G removes the stack form first when you descend.
  • To stack Kaioken on a transformation, your current form needs at least 25% mastery (the Kaioken tier itself needs none); otherwise Kaioken is dropped when you transform.
  • Stacking multiplies the drain of both your form and Kaioken (×2 with the default forms), so a stacked transformation burns Ki and health fast.
  • By default Kaioken's multipliers add up with those of your form instead of multiplying them.
  • Kaioken shows its own red aura on a separate layer, on top of your form's aura.
  • You can't stack Kaioken on the Saiyan False Super Saiyan form.

Mastery

Each Kaioken tier has its own mastery, and every tier passes 25% of the mastery it gains to the next tier up, so training a lower tier also prepares the next one. Unlike race forms, a Kaioken tier needs no mastery of its own to be stacked: only the form under it needs 25%.

Related techniques and fusions

  • King Kai also teaches the Kaioken Attack strike technique (see Strike Attacks).
  • For the Fusion Dance, both players must be in the same form and the same stack form, for example both Super Saiyan 2 with Kaioken.

Configuration

The Kaioken tiers are defined in config/dragonminez/forms/kaioken.json, and the skill's TP costs in skills.json.
