Ki attacks are ranged energy techniques: blasts, beams, disks, barrages and giant spheres. Their damage scales with your Ki Damage (PWR), and their size grows with your Ki Power. Most of them are charged by holding the slot key, can be overcharged for more power, and gain experience that you spend on upgrades.

How ki attacks work

Main article: Techniques
  • You need Ki Control, at least 5% Power Release and an empty main hand.
  • Hold the technique's slot key to charge it and release it to fire. Small Ball and Laser attacks are instant; the other types charge to 100% and can be overcharged to 175%. Medium Ball and Giant Ball attacks fire on their own at the cap.
  • If you are locked on (which needs Ki Sense), homing attacks follow your target.
  • Damage is your Ki Damage × the technique's damage multiplier (listed below) × the type's damage multiplier (1.0 by default) × the charge.
  • Every attack belongs to a type (Wave, Laser, Giant Ball…) that sets its cast time, how it behaves and which stats it can upgrade. See the Techniques page for the type table, overcharge and upgrades.
  • Laser and Wave beams deal at least 75% of their total damage on their first hit on each target.
  • Wave and Beam attacks can clash with each other.

Ki attacks taught by masters

Cooldowns are at 100% charge, before XP upgrades. The TP cost is paid once to unlock the technique.

Masters with an alignment requirement (Good for Master Roshi, Krillin, Goku, Gohan, King Kai and Old Kai; Evil for Cell and Frieza) only teach you once your alignment fits. Master Tien has no such requirement, and he is the only master who teaches the Dodon Ray, the Tri-Beam and the Neo Tri-Beam. Cell and Frieza cover a large part of the roster on their own, but only for Evil characters.

Special behaviour

  • Emperor's Death Beam fires a rapid chain of 10 death beams; the follow-up shots deal 20% of the first one's damage.
  • Heat Dome Attack launches the closest enemy in front of you (within 8 blocks) into the air before the beam hits.
  • Hellzone Grenade needs a target (lock on or aim at one): the ki blasts surround it and then close in.
  • Neo Tri-Beam: after it fires you have 3 seconds to right-click for another shot, up to 3 follow-up shots. Each follow-up costs 10% of your max health and needs at least 20% of your health left.
  • Spirit Bomb calls for help while you charge it: other players within 64 blocks can give it their energy with Ki Transfer. Their Ki makes the bomb grow and hit harder (up to ×3 damage), and while they give it keeps growing for as long as you hold the key instead of firing at full charge. See Ki Transfer.

Ki attacks not taught by default

No master offers these in the default lists. Some come from other sources; server owners can add any of them to a master's list, and admins can grant them with /dmztech add.

Technique Type TP cost Damage multiplier Cooldown (seconds) How to get it
Supernova (Cooler) Giant Ball 15,000 ×3.5 10 20% drop from the Metal Cooler Core world boss.
Kill Driver Disk 16,000 ×2.25 12 25% drop from the Turles world boss.
Mouth Blast Wave 4,500 ×1.75 12 Granted while in Great Ape (Oozaru) form. You can steer the beam while it fires.

World boss drop chances are the server defaults; see World Bosses.

The mod also includes the Blaster Meteor ki attack (Barrage, 5,000 TP, ×0.7 damage multiplier, 15-second cooldown).
