Evasion Techniques
Evasion techniques are utility moves that help you escape, reposition or turn a fight around: blinding flashes, afterimages, teleports, a healing nap, a roar that pushes everyone back, and Majin tricks that turn enemies into candy or wrap them in gum. They activate as soon as you press the slot key and share a short lockout with each other.
How evasion techniques work
- Evasion techniques must be equipped in a technique slot, and need an empty main hand, the Ki Control skill and at least 5% Power Release.
- After using one, all your evasion techniques share a short lockout: the technique's duration + 3 seconds.
- They gain experience every time you use them. Spend it on duration (+2.5% per level, up to +50%) and cooldown upgrades. Sleep Recovery's duration is fixed, so it only has cooldown upgrades.
Evasion techniques taught by masters
| Technique | Taught by | TP cost | Cooldown (seconds) | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solar Flare | Krillin, Master Tien | 2,000 | 45 | A blinding flash: everyone within 20 blocks who can see you and is looking your way is blinded for 6–12 seconds. Blinded mobs lose their target. |
| Afterimage | Master Roshi, Krillin, Cell | 2,500 | 10 | With a locked-on target within 24 blocks, you blink around it and end up behind it; without one, you leave an afterimage behind and step a few blocks forward. Mobs targeting you within 16 blocks lose track of you. |
| Sleep Recovery | Majin Buu | 3,000 | 60 | A 7-second nap that heals 10% of your max health every second (up to 70%). You can't move, attack or use items while you sleep, and taking damage wakes you up. Only Majins can equip it. |
| Candy Beam | Majin Buu | 5,000 | 30 | Turns an enemy within 5 blocks in your line of sight (your locked-on target first) into candy for 3 seconds. A candied target can't attack. With no enemy close enough nothing happens and no Ki is spent. Only Majins can equip it. |
| Gum Bind | Majin Buu | 9,000 | 45 | Throws a Majin Gum Ball at your locked-on target within 24 blocks (otherwise where you aim) that wraps the first enemy it hits in Majin Gum. A bound target can't attack. Players stay bound for 10 seconds; other enemies for 10 seconds, or less if they are stronger than you. Only Majins can equip it. |
Sleep Recovery, the Candy Beam and Gum Bind are Majin techniques: any race can learn them from Majin Buu, but only a Majin can equip them in a technique slot or upgrade them (see Techniques). Kid Buu and Majin Kuu also use Sleep Recovery in the story: they take a 7-second nap that heals up to 60% of their max health.
Breaking free from Gum Bind
- A player wrapped in gum breaks free by mashing the Sneak key (Shift): every press takes 0.25 seconds off the bind.
- The bind also ends if the victim is knocked down or gets more than 24 blocks away from you.
- Against other enemies, a stronger target is bound for 10 seconds × your Battle Power ÷ its Battle Power, but always at least 2 seconds.
- World bosses and giant multi-part bosses can't be bound.
- Majin Buu also uses Gum Bind against you in the story, and the Majin Candy attack of the bosses that use it has the same effect as the Candy Beam.
Evasion techniques not taught by default
No master offers these in the default lists. Server owners can add Dimensional Warp to a master's list, and admins can grant either with /dmztech add.
| Technique | TP cost | Cooldown (seconds) | How to get it | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dimensional Warp | 12,000 | 4 | 20% drop from the Janemba world boss. | Teleports you behind your locked-on target within 64 blocks, or a few blocks forward without a target. |
| Rage Scream | — | 4 | Granted while in Great Ape (Oozaru) form. | A roar that repeatedly damages and pushes back everything around you for 3 seconds. |
World boss drop chances are the server defaults; see World Bosses.
