Gotenks
Gotenks is the fusion of Goten and Trunks by the Fusion Dance. He is one of the Buu Saga fighters of the Otherworld Tournament, where any of his three forms can be drawn, and a story opponent in the Buu Saga.
In the tournament
Gotenks can be drawn as a contender in the Otherworld Tournament. Each contender seat draws a random fighter from the Buu Saga cast, and a tournament never has two forms of the same character, so it has at most one Gotenks: base, Super Saiyan or Super Saiyan 3. The draw is revealed once everybody accepts the rules, and you only face him if he reaches your bout: fights between two NPCs are decided automatically.
His stats come from the tournament, not from the character: each contender draw has its own health, damage and AI tier. By default they range from 238,000 health, 9,900 melee damage and 8,840 ki damage (Smart AI) to 612,500 health, 25,800 melee damage and 23,460 ki damage (Elite AI), and contenders get 8% stronger for every round already played.
Tournament fighters never transform: Gotenks keeps the form he was drawn in for the whole bout. Bouts end at knockout, so he isn't killed and drops nothing.
Behavior and abilities
Gotenks is child-sized and flies. His AI tier comes from the tournament draw or, in story quests, from your difficulty (see enemy AI tiers). Every form backsteps away from your hits and teleports behind you, and his Kamehameha gets bigger with each form. His two Super Saiyan forms use Zanzoken at the highest level (6 after-image hops), and as a Super Saiyan 3 his aura crackles with lightning.

Forms
Gotenks has three forms, each a separate entity: Gotenks (base), Gotenks (Super Saiyan) and Gotenks (Super Saiyan 3). In the tournament each form is drawn on its own and stays as it is. Outside the tournament the base form can turn Super Saiyan and the Super Saiyan form can turn Super Saiyan 3, but none of the default story quests let him transform.
In the story
Each form has its own Buu Saga quest:
- Quest 19, Beach Training with Gotenks: defeat Gotenks (base) on a beach.
- Quest 39, Fusion Dance Practice: spar with Gotenks (Super Saiyan) on a beach.
- Quest 23, Gotenks at Full Power: defeat Gotenks (Super Saiyan 3) in the Rocky biome. Completing it unlocks the Sacred Kai Planet as a Space Pod destination.
