Masters are the trainer NPCs of DragonMineZ. Most of them teach skills and techniques in exchange for Training Points, five of them run a training minigame, and several offer services such as healing, weighted gear or a Flying Nimbus. Right-click a master to open the NPC dialogue: one menu with everything that master offers.

Capsule Corp Assistants sell treasure maps to most masters' homes (see Finding structures). Fortuneteller Baba (on Earth) and Cell also host tournaments.
Alignment
Some masters only train you if your alignment fits (bands: Good 61–100, Neutral 41–60, Evil 0–40):
- Good-aligned masters: Master Roshi, Krillin, Goku, Gohan, Old Kai and King Kai need an alignment of 61 or higher.
- Evil-aligned masters: Cell and Frieza need an alignment of 40 or lower.
- Every other master has no alignment requirement by default.
Every master and quest NPC talks to you, whatever your alignment; if it dislikes you (wrong alignment, or hostile toward you), it greets you with a cold line instead. A master whose alignment you don't fit keeps Skills and Train locked ("Requires an alignment of 61 or higher." or "40 or lower.") until your alignment fits. The Quests option is always open: only quests whose giver needs another alignment show as locked (saga quests and quests with an alignment condition of their own follow their own rules), and quests you already started or can turn in stay usable. Their other services and tournaments stay open. A few services have alignment rules of their own (Korin's Nimbus, Dende's blessing, Grand Elder Guru, Babidi, Old Kai's challenge); they're listed on each master's page.
Whether NPCs are hostile toward you is a separate, configurable system (see NPC Placement and Alignment).
Talking to a master
Right-clicking a master (or a quest NPC such as Bulma) opens the dialogue at the bottom of the screen: the NPC on the left, what they say in the middle and your options on the right. You need to have created your character first.
| Option | Who has it | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Quests | NPCs that give quests | Lists their quests in the order they unlock in the story: available, in progress, ready to turn in and locked ones. Completed quests (greyed out, with a check mark) and repeatable quests on cooldown move to the bottom. Pick a quest to see its description, objectives and rewards, then Accept or Reject it, or Turn in a finished one; the window stays open. Once every quest of that NPC is done, the Quests option shows a check mark. |
| Skills | Every master who teaches | Opens the master's skill shop (see What masters teach below). |
| Train | Every master who teaches (Mr. Popo only inside the Time Chamber) | Shadow Clone spawns a Shadow Dummy copy of you to spar with; masters with a training minigame also list it here. |
| Services | Some masters and NPCs | See Services below. |
| Tournament | Fortuneteller Baba (Earth), Cell, the Otherworld Tournament Announcer, the World Tournament Announcer (World Martial Arts Tournament) | Opens the tournament screen. See Tournaments. |
- An option you can't use right now stays in the list but locked: hover it to see why (wrong alignment, a skill level that's too low, a Flying Nimbus you already carry, full health and so on). Some masters answer in character when you click a locked service.
- Options with a cooldown (Korin's Senzu Beans, Kami's Blessing, Baba's revive, repeatable quests) show a timer that counts down live; the option unlocks by itself when it runs out.
- After a service the master replies and the window stays open. Teleports (King Yemma, the Grand Kai, the Tournament Announcer), Dende's stat reset and the Shadow Clone close it.
- A locked quest tells you what's missing, for example which saga quest or sidequest to complete first.
Controls: click an option, use ↑ / ↓ and Enter, or press 1–9. Click the text (or press Space or Enter) to show the whole line at once. Back (Backspace or right click) returns to the previous page; Close or Esc leaves.
What masters teach
skillOfferingsTechniques are split into ki attacks (ranged energy), strike attacks (melee) and evasion techniques (see Techniques). Plain skills are passive or utility unlocks (see Skills). You pay for them with Training Points. Your race still has to allow each skill, so a master's shop only lists the skills your race can learn; techniques are always listed, but a few of them can only be equipped by one race (marked below). These are the default lists:
| Master | Skills | Ki attacks | Strike attacks | Evasion |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Master Roshi | Jump, Meditation, Ki Control | Kamehameha | — | Afterimage |
| Goku | Ki Control, Fly, Instant Transmission, Fusion | Kamehameha, Spirit Bomb | Dragon Fist, Super God Fist, Oozaru Fist, Beam Sword Slash | — |
| King Kai | Ki Control, Potential Unlock, Ki Manipulation, Kaioken (stack form) | Spirit Bomb | Kaioken Attack | — |
| Piccolo | Potential Unlock, Ki Control | Masenko, Special Beam Cannon, Ki Barrage, Kienzan, Hellzone Grenade | Darkness Eye Beam (Namekian only) | — |
| Gohan | Ki Control, Ki Boost, Ki Protection, Ki Sense | Masenko, Special Beam Cannon, Kamehameha, Ki Barrage | — | — |
| Krillin | Ki Control, Sprint, Ki Sense | Kienzan, Double Kienzan, Ki Barrage | Deadly Dance | Solar Flare, Afterimage |
| Vegeta | Ki Control, Defense Penetration, Potential Unlock | Galick Gun, Big Bang Attack, Final Flash, Final Explosion, Fake Moon | Deadly Dance (Vegetto), Spirit Breaker, Spirit Breaking Cannon | — |
| Trunks | Ki Control, Ki Boost, Ki Protection | Burning Attack, Heat Dome Attack, Galick Gun, Ki Barrage | Shining Sword Attack, Meteor | — |
| Yamcha | Ki Control, Ki Infusion | Spirit Ball, Kamehameha, Ki Barrage | Wolf Fang | — |
| Master Tien | Ki Control | Dodon Ray, Tri-Beam, Neo Tri-Beam | — | Solar Flare |
| Majin Buu | — | Assault Rain | Gum Punch, Mystic Ball Attack | Sleep Recovery, Candy Beam, Gum Bind (all three Majin only) |
| Fortuneteller Baba (Earth) | Ki Control, Meditation | — | — | — |
| Old Kai | Ki Control, Ki Infusion, Healing Reduction | Soul Punisher | — | — |
| Frieza | Ki Control, Fly, Jump, Sprint, Ki Sense, Meditation, Potential Unlock | Death Beam, Emperor's Death Beam, Supernova, Double Kienzan | Deadly Dance, Meteor, Death Chaser | — |
| Cell | Ki Control, Instant Transmission, Ki Manipulation, Ki Infusion, Ki Protection, Defense Penetration, Healing Reduction, Ki Boost | Kamehameha, Kienzan, Galick Gun, Masenko, Death Beam, Ki Barrage | Deadly Dance, Meteor, Android Combo (Androids only), Perfect Rush (Bio-Android only) | Afterimage |
Cell and Frieza cover a huge part of the technique roster on their own, but you need Evil alignment (40 or lower) to train with them, so a Good character can't learn everything from a single master.
config/dragonminez/skills.json (skillOfferings, one list per master id), and the minigames in training.json. A master without a list of its own uses the default list (Ki Control and Jump).Training
Every master who teaches also has a Train option. Shadow Clone spawns a Shadow Dummy copy of you to spar with. Five masters also run a training minigame there: Krillin (Ki Control), Gohan (Shadow Boxing), Trunks (Precision), Vegeta (Gravity) and Mr. Popo (Rhythm, inside the Time Chamber). Old Kai's Unleash Power service chains all five into the Ultimate Challenge.
Services
Besides teaching, several masters (and the other NPCs living next to them) offer services as options of their dialogue:
| NPC | Where | Service |
|---|---|---|
| Master Roshi | Kame House | Weighted Gear: gives you a Turtle Shell of the weight you type in. See Weights. |
| King Kai | King Kai's Planet (Otherworld) | Weighted Gear: gives you Workout Weights. |
| Piccolo | Piccolo's House | Heal me (restores health, ki, stamina and poise) and Weighted Gear (a Weighted Cape). |
| Mr. Popo | Kami's Lookout and the Time Chamber | Inside the Time Chamber: Train (Shadow Clone or the Rhythm game). Elsewhere: Haircut opens the hair editor (only for characters with hair). |
| Korin | Kami's Lookout | Flying Nimbus: a Flying Nimbus if your alignment is above 50, otherwise a Black Nimbus (only if you don't already carry one). Senzu Beans: 5 Senzu Beans, once every 15 minutes. |
| Dende | Kami's Lookout | Heal, Reset Stats (full character reset, asks for confirmation), Grow/Remove Tail (races with a Saiyan tail) and Kami's Blessing (Good alignment only: ×1.2 TP for 5 minutes, 30-minute cooldown). |
| Grand Elder Guru | Grand Elder's House | Unlock Potential: raises Potential Unlock from level 10 to 11 if your alignment is 50 or higher (below 50 he greets you coldly). |
| Dr. Gero | Dr. Gero's Lab | Converts a Human into an Android (switches you to the Android form line; not possible while fused). |
| Babidi | Babidi's Spaceship | Receive the Mark: gives you the Majin mark if your alignment is below 39. |
| Old Kai | Old Kai's Pillar | Unleash Power: starts the Ultimate Challenge. |
| King Yemma | Otherworld | Return to Earth: sends you back to the living world when you're alive or temporarily revived. |
| Fortuneteller Baba | Otherworld | Revive or Borrow time: revives a dead player (a temporary revive by default). See Otherworld. |
| Grand Kai | Otherworld | Tournament: teleports you to the Otherworld Tournament grounds; the Otherworld Tournament Announcer there sends you back. |
Weighted Gear (Roshi, King Kai, Piccolo) can be asked for once per conversation; talk to them again for more. Healing services are locked when you're already at full health, and don't work while you're knocked out after a temporary revive.
The amounts above are server defaults: the Senzu gift (senzuGiftAmount, senzuGiftCooldownTicks), Kami's Blessing (the kamiBless… settings) and the maximum weight you can request (maxWeightRequested, 100,000 kg by default) can all be changed.
Other NPCs
Toribot
On King Kai's Planet in the Otherworld, right next to King Kai, stands Toribot, a little easter egg for fans. He isn't a master: he teaches nothing and has no services or quests. Talk to him and he greets you with one of his lines ("Beep boop! I am Toribot, thanks for visiting me!"), chatting about doodling new characters and claiming he drew this whole universe himself.
Hosts and quest NPCs
- The Otherworld Tournament Announcer hosts the Otherworld Tournament and sends you back to the Grand Kai.
- The World Tournament Announcer hosts the World Martial Arts Tournament on its island.
- Quest NPCs such as Bulma (at Vegeta's Saiyan Pod), Chi-Chi (at Goku's House), Mr. Satan and Chiaotzu (on the World Martial Arts Tournament island) and the Hell Ogre use the same dialogue window, with a Quests option. See the Bestiary.
